Visiting Fellow
(The Victoria University of Wellington)
Dates of visit: September - early December 2025

Profile
I am the Professor of Classics at Victoria University of Wellington in New Zealand and a Fellow of the Royal Society of New Zealand. My most recent books are A Noble Ruin: Mark Antony, Civil War, and the Collapse of the Roman Republic (Oxford 2024) and, with Laurel Fulkerson, A History of Latin Literature from its Beginnings to the Age of Augustus (Cambridge 2024); large slabs of each were written while at the ICS. This time at the ICS I will be completing a commentary on Plutarch’s Philopoemen-Flamininus, which I am lucky enough to be writing with Chris Pelling, and beginning work on a commentary on the pseudo-Sallustian invectives.
