Retelling the urban fox: A collaborative fairy tale
Anja Rekeszus is a scholar of literature and cultural history. Her research focuses on Romanticism and fairy tales, and what they can tell us about our relationship with the natural environment. She received her PhD in 2023 from King's College London, where she worked on German women writers of the nineteenth century and their transcultural fairy tales. Her articles have appeared in the Publications of the English Goethe Society and the Conversation. In addition to her work as a lecturer at the University of Reading, Anja is an environmental activist working with the Climate Majority Project and Friends of the Earth.
Her current research project, ‘Retelling the urban fox: A collaborative fairy tale’ investigates the power of fairy tales to impact humans’ relationships with urban biodiversity. Through participatory, creative and digital research methods, this project seeks to uncover the ways in which the compiling a collaborative fairy tale influences participants’ perceptions of urban foxes.
