This event, organised by the Council of University Classical Departments and the Institute of Classical Studies, follows on from the open webinar on 14 June focused on the REF 2021 results. It is intended to offer opportunity for further discussions and networking between heads of department/unit and research leads in UK Classics and the planning of national strategies of support and collaboration.
We are making provision for this meeting to be held as hybrid. Although we will do our best to ensure a good experience for those who opt to join online rather than to travel to London we encourage all participants to attend in person if they can, in order to maximise opportunities for informal as well as formal discussion.
2 – 2:45pm: News from the field – reports and comments from participants on how REF has landed in their institutions and any other research strategy issues on the horizon.
2:45 – 3:30pm: Brief comments from Maria Wyke on issues for UK Classics arising from REF 2021; plenary discussion
3: 30 – 4:15: Tea and breakout groups – reflection on previous discussion, identification of issues we would like to focus on further and areas where Classics units, CUCD and ICS can work together to support the Classics research community.
4:15 – 5pm: Plenary – reporting back on themes from breakout groups and planning ahead.
