Weaving Women’s Stories (Being Human Festival 2018)

16th-17th November 2018

St Margaret’s House, Old Ford Road, Bethnal Green, London E2 9PL

Explore the connections between storytelling and textile-making in women’s lives from ancient Greece to modern London. Join us to look for the stories of our craftivist foremothers in artefacts and poetry from the past; hear the voices of these ‘subversive stitchers’ with an evening performance from By Jove Theatre, introduced by experts on ancient craft; try your hand at spinning wool into yarn, or at weaving on our replica loom; and make artefacts – from clay and cloth – inspired by archaeological evidence from ancient Greece and Rome.

This series of free public events, including an evening performance, a drop-in workshop for families, and a places-limited weaving workshop, is part of the 2018 Being Human Festival and will take place at St. Margaret’s House, Bethnal Green. Further details of each event, and booking links, will be available here in due course.
